Those who identify as women: What could be or has been done to help you feel heard by your doctor?

In recognition of International Women’s Day, we want to discuss and hear about the experiences of patients who identify as women.

In the past few years, CPSA has conducted research about the healthcare experiences of patients across Alberta. During a recent series of focus groups, we heard perspectives that those who identify as women often do not feel heard or taken seriously by doctors.

Gender equity in healthcare spaces is a necessary part of providing the highest quality care and striving for the best healthcare outcomes for everyone. We want to know: in your experience, what could be or has been done to help you, as someone who identifies as a woman, feel heard by your doctor?
