Who is CPSA and why are we starting this conversation?

Estimated read time: 1 minute

CPSA is the regulator for physicians and physician assistants in Alberta. Much like it’s a provincial registry’s role to make sure anyone with a driver’s licence is safe to be on the road, we issue practice permits to doctors, ensuring they’re qualified to provide the best care possible to their patients.

Regulation involves ensuring doctors have the proper education and training to practise medicine to the standards we set for professional and ethical behaviour. It also involves managing and investigating complaints, helping doctors improve their clinical skills, and even supporting doctors who are managing their own health conditions so that patients aren’t adversely affected.

Patient safety is our top priority.

CPSA’s evidence-based decisions can have a profound effect on Albertans and doctors, which is why it’s so important we have your input. We want to hear from you about what health care means to you and what your experiences as a patient have been like.

We’re glad you’re here to join the conversation. What else do you want to know about CPSA?
